Description: Say hello to Rio, a stunning Blue and Gold Macaw with a personality as bright as his feathers! Rio is looking for his forever home, ideally with a female main carer, though he is happy to accept men with time and patience.
Personality & Temperament:
Rio is a confident, affectionate bird who loves being out of his cage. While he can be territorial around his cage and may lunge at bars, once out he adores head scratches and attention. He is hand-tame, enjoys dancing (especially to the Matilda theme tune ), and has a playful, loving nature.
Rio will happily interact with children and is unfazed by other birds. He does not like stepping onto sticks, preferring human hands instead.
Likes & Quirks:
Talks & Words: Says his name, “Hello,” “Goodbye,” and “Kisses”
Diet: Hagan Tropican pellets, chop, and a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables
Favourite Veggies: Carrots, peas, sweetcorn, runner beans, kale
Favourite Fruit: Apple, grapes, banana, melon, raspberries, pomegranate
Favourite Treat: Pine nuts.
Rio previously didn’t like men, but with patience, he now happily steps up on male carers. He loves attention, head tickles, and spending time out of his cage.
