Background & Handling
Sam is a lovely African Grey who has lived his life being handled exclusively by females. He has never been handled by a male, as his previous male owner was afraid of being bitten. Because of this, Sam is much more confident and relaxed with women.

He is comfortable with gentle, calm handling and will happily interact with trusted female carers. The owner’s daughter can handle him and even gets kisses from him.

Personality & Behaviour
Sam is a bright, social, and entertaining Grey with a big personality. He enjoys:

Listening to the radio

Watching TV, Dancing, Talking, and Whistling Mimicking sounds

He is active, alert, and enjoys being part of the household environment. Like many Greys, he thrives on routine, stimulation, and interaction.

Vocalisations & Sounds
Sam has an impressive range of sounds and phrases. He can mimic:

Telephone ringing, Car alarm, Air fryer, Fire alarm, Music from various radio adverts, A range of words and sentences

He is a typical African Grey — intelligent, vocal, and very expressive.

Diet
Sam’s favourite foods include: Johnson & Jeff parrot food, Gala apples, Grapes, Sweetcorn and Peas

A balanced diet with plenty of fresh vegetables and limited high‑fat treats will help keep him healthy.

Ideal Home
Sam would be best suited to a home where:

Primary carers are female, due to his strong preference and handling history

He has plenty of interaction, enrichment, and mental stimulation

His vocal nature is welcomed

He can enjoy background noise such as radio or TV

The adopter understands the needs of African Greys, including their emotional sensitivity and intelligence

He may take time to adjust to new people, but with patience and consistency he forms strong bonds.

Additional Notes
Sam’s preference for female handlers must be respected to ensure his wellbeing.

He is a clever, engaging bird who will thrive in a stable, loving environment.

A home experienced with African Greys would be ideal.
