Description: Daisy, who is in her early 40s, is not always covered at night and doesn’t seem to have a preference either way. We do have a bedtime routine when we say “goodnight, I love you, see you in the morning” to each bird and blow them a kiss, they then settle down.
Daisy seems willing to try all fruit and veg but quickly gets bored so I tend to give her chop every other day as well as vary it as much as I can.
Originally Daisy was male orientated but since I have been her carer for the last 4/5 years she will step up for me as well as accept fuss. She does like a lot of attention, when we have male visitors she will shout for attention as soon as she hears their voice. She will say hello, how are you and see you but they all sound quite similar and interchangeable, she makes lots of different noises ranging from a kind of purring noise to whistles. She does not swear.
I don’t think she has any phobias or fears, she is quite placid except for the Amazon shriek she is quite free with when she requires attention, she is quite an easy bird once she knows you and is probably suitable for all levels. She is quite lazy, she doesn’t play very much when out of the cage, she likes to sit with someone contentedly watching TV or on top of her cage watching the world go by. She has flown a couple of times but only because she thought she was being left somewhere other than her room, she would rather walk to be honest. She is used to children, although hasn’t been allowed near them, for no other reason than caution, she is also used to dogs and cats in the room but only when she is safe in her cage.
She has multi seeded toast each morning, either with almond butter, fried or scrambled eggs or even honey for breakfast, she has chop every other day and Hagen Tropimix in the evening, she eats well and is not fussy. Cages are cleaned before they get their evening meal, they are usually showered in their cage, which takes place outside, weather permitting of course. They are given the opportunity for 12 hours sleep overnight and they often have a snooze in the afternoon
