Description: Hi, my name is Barney and I’m about 29 years old! I’m a good talker: I can say things like “Hello Barn!”; “There’s a good lad!”; “Barney Boo, how are you?”; “Come on!”, “Good night, Barn”; and “Apple?” (when I want food). I like to sing a tune and to dance, too!

I’m normally most happy sitting in the same room as you. I don’t like sitting on people and won’t step up on hands, but will climb onto my travel cage to move around the house, and I accept head scratches (on my terms!), particularly if you’re a man! I don’t mind women but I light up more when I see men.

I’m content by myself or with other birds. I used to live with a small parrot who was quite bossy, and I would stand my ground but never start anything with him. I have done some target training so there’s a chance I could be trained to sit on arms.

I do like to get out of my cage and roam. I’ve improved on my flying but I still prefer climbing and walking from room to room. Be careful, because I do like to go after shoes and shoelaces (but generally not feet in socks). Sometimes I’ll offer my head as if I want a head scratch from the shoe, but then bite it instead!

I love showers! I have them at least once a week on the top of my cage, and love to snooze afterwards. I also love my current cage, the travel cage and the metal mesh around my UV light. I love chewing card board and smaller pieces of wood (like chopsticks) so be careful with your skirting boards!
