Description: Hi everyone my name is Blu and I am 12 old.
I’ve been staying with my safe house family for a while now.
I spend most of my day out of my cage chewing boxes and making a fort or a mess which ever way you’d like to look at it.
I have started to eat a variety of vegetables in chop and also love Grapes  and bananas
My favorite nuts are cashews and whole walnuts and I’ll even come down on to the sofa for those but I do run back to the top of my cage to eat them.
I am a plucker but I have got so much better since being here. With the right person, diet and enrichment I’m sure this would be minimized.

I do like the company of other parrots and I’m happy doing my own thing whilst the other birds are getting attention but I can be a little noisy especially when my friends are singing the songs of their people!

I like to be out of my cage as much as possible and I love a good box to chew it makes me laugh with excitement. I like to say hello Blu and lots of over things when my sh mum is out of the room and I like waving.

Blue needs a home with a macaw experienced female carer, although she has warmed to some of the males in my house there are a couple she still doesn’t like.
She can show aggression towards males but she doesn’t fly to you or anything bad but she makes it known if she doesn’t like you if you pass the cage or try to touch her.

Once I am settled I do like a tickle and I’ll even hold your finger too but strictly only when I say so. I can be a bit hold and cold and she isn’t a cuddly parrot by a long shot, but she may come round with the right experienced person.
When she first came into safe house she was absolutely petrified of water spraying, (and the hoover) she has improved a lot and although it’s still not the best thing she tolerates it in small sessions.

She is also a bit of diva when it comes to training and absolutely doesn’t like being told or asked to do anything she doesn’t want to do, even if you’ve got the treat she wants. I have tried clicker training which I failed at miserably. She won’t step up and she is scared of a perch. So with me she just does what she wants and is chilled and happy on the top of her cage or play stand or on the ropes.
She responds to the words it’s bed time and will take herself inside her cage and is happy to be covered at night.
