Species: African Grey Parrot

Description: Jasper (ASP 908) is 18 years old and has settled well into his SF and is ready to join his own family. He previously never left his cage and was on a seed diet. Jasper has transitioned well to his pellet diet and enjoys a mixture of fruit and veg. He will sell his soul for a grape, closely followed by berries. He is still selective with his veg, but he gives it a try.

Jasper really enjoys time out of his cage and will spend hours and even lets you know now when he wants to come out. He absolutely loves his toys and spends hours playing with them. He enjoys the challenge of foraging which I mix up for him. Jasper is territorial of his cage which is something we are working on. His confidence is growing and he is started to venture further from his cage to be closer to the family. Ideally, he will need a cage with a play stand which will allow him more freedom for him to explore. He enjoys his time outside and showers. On the odd occasion he prefers to stay as a grubby teenager and not shower, he does make it clear to you.

Jasper does not step up; however, you can see he thinks about it. With some more time and stability within his new family he may impress us all. He does enjoy his feet and legs touched and occasional his beak. He loves to engage you with his whistles and kisses, which my wife definitely gets more of. He enjoys being around the family and always checks in if we are in a different room. Jasper has enjoyed his target training which we do every morning and evening.

He gets on well with both male and female and is good with my 12- and 14-year-old. Are you the family to offer the time and freedom to continue Japser’s development?
