Description: Birdy is an 18-year-old African Grey with a gentle, sensitive nature and a heart that slowly opens once trust is earned. He can be quite timid at first, but with patience and kindness his confidence grows — and when it does, you’ll see just how special he truly is.
Birdy isn’t a hands-on bird, but he loves interaction and being part of your day. He enjoys company, conversation, and connection on his own terms. He would be best suited to a home with older children who understand how to respect his space.
Birdy would be happy with either a male or female carer, though he may naturally gravitate toward choosing a male as his special person. Once that bond forms, it means everything to him.
Food is close to Birdy’s heart — he loves his vegetables and some fruit and must remain on a healthy diet alongside his pellets. Bath time isn’t his favourite, but he’s slowly learning that water is good for him and is making gentle progress at his own pace.
A happy, chatty little fella, Birdy is comfortable in a home with dogs and would also be fine living with other birds. He currently shares his Safehouse home with another African Grey and a Galah Cockatoo, and does well in their company.
Birdy is looking for someone who understands that trust takes time and is willing to put in the work to build a lasting bond. If you’re patient, committed, and ready to earn his trust, Birdy will reward you with companionship, personality, and a truly meaningful connection.
