Description: Meet Layla the African Grey Looking for a Long Term Foster.
Layla is a gentle, affectionate, and sociable African Grey who has settled quickly into her safehouse. She’s hand-tame, steps up happily, and adores head scritches — she’ll even lower her head to ask for them! Layla is very friendly with new people (male and female) and loves sitting with you, whether on your arm, shoulder, or perched on your head.
She enjoys an evening routine: after a relaxed day of snoozing and watching the world go by, she comes out to play, explore, and spend time with her humans. She loves company, chatting, and being involved in what you’re doing. Her arm (or your head!) is her safe place, and she’s very gentle — never bites, though she may give a little beak “test” nip now and again.
Diet & Treats: Layla eats a healthy mix of pellets, seed, fruit, veg, and nuts. She particularly enjoys apples, mango, carrots, green beans, and banana chips as her favourite treat. She’s still trying new foods and is a good eater.
Personality: She’s calm, curious, and easy-going — no signs of separation anxiety or stress. She has a beautiful whistle, says “Good morning,” “Goodnight,” “Hello” (especially when the phone rings!), and is picking up more words. She also has a funny habit of peeking through her cage cover at bedtime to keep an eye on you.
Other Notes:
She isn’t used to toys yet but is learning to explore them.
She’s not keen on bathing yet but is being gently introduced to sprays and a bath.
She hasn’t been around children or other pets in her current home, but she came from a household with kids, so likely no issues.
Needs a little guidance when flying back to her cage, but steps up straight away for help.
Layla is a sweet, calm, and loving girl who will make a truly wonderful, loyal long-term companion.
