Species: Jenday Conure
Hello, my name is Polly and I am a 6 year old Jenday Conure. I haven’t been in my safe house for very long, so I am still getting to grips with my new home. I am currently trying to get used to my new healthier seed diet and I am still ignoring all veggies because I haven’t really seen them before. I am used to a busy household and like to be in a room where all the action is. I can be loud if I feel I am not getting enough attention! I am also quite scared of young children (toddler age), due to a bad experience previously. Polly is a big softie but does bite on occasion. We are still trying to understand why this is, but we feel it could be excitement, because she is not used to being let out as much as she is now. This will hopefully disappear in time, once she has settled into her new routine. When she is out of her cage, she loves to snuggle into the crook of your arm and demand to be stroked. She will even hold onto your finger whilst you do so. When she has had enough of being stroked, she is content just sitting on you. She definitely prefers men to women, but she does tolerate women if she is given the necessary time to get used to them. With men, it is very much love at first sight as far as she is concerned! She currently doesn’t seem that into her toys but loves chewing clothes. She is loving having a room to fly around in, and is currently practising landing, which should be called crash landing at the moment! We think that once she gets used to her new environment and gets used to being out of her cage regularly, she will become a lovely, snuggly soul. She is still in quarantine, so we are yet to find out if she gets on with other birds or not. Whoever ends up adopting Polly will not be disappointed!
